If You Can't Go, Send! by Todd Pierce

If you can't go, send! Being a child in the Kingdom of God is the highest level of existence that anyone can attain. Along with the promises, benefits and privileges of this adoption, we also have a very real responsibility. When Jesus gave His disciples their instruction to go and preach the Gospel, it was a mandate given to all of us. Although each of you have different roles and responsibilities in this call, you are all called.

The Bible tells us a story of one of God's sons (David) who fell into great sin. He committed sexual sin with a married woman and then tried to cover it. All his efforts of covering it failed, so he decided to kill her husband. Under this horrible weight of sin and guilt, he sent the man to the front lines of battle and then withdrew his support. He died! This may be the most dramatic illustration of what happens when God's people fail to honor and support those whom they have sent.

Romans 10:14-17 says:

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”

But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

It has been our Father's pattern to prepare those to be sent and those to send. I believe at some level we all do both. We as a family want to be a part of so many different works, but it is impossible for us to do them all, so we choose to support them with prayer and finances. Even though we are sent ones, we also want to send. I encourage you to look at what our Father has called you to support and take it very seriously. We live in critical times and there is a tremendous opportunity for us as God's kids to shine. Look at how our Father is working around you, make a commitment to support and then stick with it.
